Is Your Dog Focused?

October 2nd, 2007 · No Comments · General Info

When talking about dog training, it is very important to have our dog focus on us. You’ve seen those amazing pictures of dogs not taking their eyes off their handlers.

It is a something that is crucial in training. To get your dog to focus on you, you have to make the training fun and consistent. It has to be a daily ritual. Yes you can make it seem like work but then you are not really getting the benefit of training.

Remember most dogs love to work and please us. As I have said before they need mental stimulation. They will get it whether you are involved in that stimulation or not. Use their eagerness to please to your advantage. If your dog is stimulating themselves that usually means trouble for you. You know the missing socks, the chewed furniture etc.

You would be amazed at what you can do if your dog is “focused”. The following is a clip of a really focused dog. This clip has been around for awhile but it is one of my favourites. Enjoy!
